January

At the beginning of January, we supported the Club “Māja” Hackathon – a 24-hour Hackathon, during which ideas were developed that could promote and develop the development of the youth field, not only in the regions, but in the entire area of Latvia.

February

In February, we supported the 83rd carnival of the Latvian Academy of Arts.

September

Student annual celebration of University of Latvia “Aristotelis”

The Student Council of the University of Latvia (LU SP) organized the annual celebration for new students called “Aristotelis,” which took place on September 3, 2023, in Riga, at Doma Square and Raiņa Boulevard 19. This event is a yearly tradition of the University of Latvia (LU) and attracts 2000 students, faculty, and friends of LU. With solemn speeches, greetings, and various surprises, students, faculty, and other friends of LU welcomed the new academic year at Doma Square. Afterward, they proceeded in a ceremonial procession to Raiņa Boulevard 19, where in the evening, various popular musicians in Latvia, special activities, and contests delighted every student, graduate, and friend of the University of Latvia, creating an energetic and festive atmosphere!

ELSA Latvia unifying event

On September 9, 2023, the European Law Students’ Association in Latvia (ELSA Latvia) organized a unifying event for ELSA Latvia members. The aim of the event was to provide an opportunity for members to meet in person, spend time together, and allow the board to gain a better understanding of the students’ desires, needs, and challenges, in order to enhance the productivity of the association’s activities.

In October, we supported the Energy Hackathon

From October 6 to 8, RTU EVIF hosted the event “Energy Hackathon” organized by RTU & Latvenergo creative laboratory, where 12 teams competed to offer the best solutions to the problem situations of the Ministry of Climate and Energy, Schneider Electric and Brightdot challenges.

During the event, the participants had the opportunity to meet with mentors in person and remotely, as well as to attend several lectures on creating a prototype and creating a successful idea “pitch”.

The team’s presentations were evaluated by a jury consisting of representatives of both companies and institutes of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Environmental Engineering of RTU. Prize winners received valuable prizes. Appreciation awards for best presentation and best prototype were also presented.
